The Office:
The Senior Associate Dean for Research facilitates research within the school of medicine. This is accomplished by:

• raising funds for specific projects through government agencies, foundations, industry, and donors
• allocating funds from research endowments, gifts and grants
• tracking extramural and intramural research opportunities
• administering the school's intramural research programs
• overseeing limited submissions and other nominations
• overseeing the school's research core facilities
• organizing and facilitating research education
• participating in establishment of research policy such as conflict of interest, tissue procurement, and information technology
• organizing research strategic planning
• assisting in faculty recruitment/retention
• reviewing and planning research space
• interfacing with chairs, ORU and center directors, and division chiefs on research issues
• being the research liaison with the campus, as well as college and professional school deans
• being the liaison with other research deans across the United States
