The David Geffen School of Medicine Diversity Affairs Office was established in July 2009. Its mission is to foster institutional awareness and commitment toward gender equity and equal opportunity for all and to recruit and retain a diverse faculty. Activities include the following:

• Faculty Partners for Diversity: open to all interested faculty, this group serves as an advisory board for the activities of the Diversity Affairs Office
• Junior Faculty Lecture Series: initiated in February 2010 this monthly series discusses topics of broad interest
• Faculty Development: the office sponsors faculty to participate in local and national leadership training programs
• Faculty Resource Groups: in conjunction with interested faculty groups, the office helps sponsor activities and programs to enhance faculty life
• STEM-PLEDGE: co-sponsor this yearly lecture program which is designed to support graduate students and trainees from diverse backgrounds
• Provides search committee training to departments in the medical school
• Performs data analysis regarding faculty diversity, the annual report is available on the website
• Works closely with the Vice-Chancellor for Diversity and Faculty Development at UCLA to create positive change
