Scholars in Oncologic Molecular Imaging (SOMI)
SOMI Program Co-Director: Anna M. Wu, Ph.D.
The UCLA SOMI (Scholars in Oncologic Molecular Imaging) grant supports an ongoing Postdoctoral Training Program funded by the NCI's R25T Program.
The Scholars in Oncologic Molecular Imaging program provides a unique opportunity for postdoctoral studies in the rapidly developing field of molecular imaging of cancer. A diverse group of over 30 SOMI faculty mentors participate, with expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, signal transduction, cancer biology, virology, gene discovery, high-throughput gene expression analysis, transgenic and knockout animal models, physiology, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, immunology, synthetic chemistry, radiochemistry, enzymology, instrumentation design, microscopy, small animal imaging and clinical imaging. SOMI postdoctoral fellows conduct research under the supervision of two SOMI mentors in complementary fields, participate in specialized coursework, seminars, and a clinical tutorial program, attend a regular meeting of SOMI mentors and trainees, and prepare a practice grant application in the field of molecular imaging, as part of an integrated and flexible one, two or three-year program.
Program Directors Mike Phelps and Anna Wu are issuing a call for applications for the Postdoctoral Training Program. Please see the SOMI website (below) for deadline information.
Applications will be reviewed and awards will be recommended by the SOMI Training Committee.
