His specific interests lie in a mix of several areas. He does research in Bayesian data analysis, diagnostics, residual analysis, model development and model checking, sample size calculations, statistical graphics. He does most of this in the context of repeated measures random effects models. He works with collaborators in several application areas, Death Penalty Charging, Environmental Modeling, Pediatric Pain and Paleontology. He especially enjoys teaching his classes in Statistical Graphics and Applied Bayesian Analysis. Most of his classes have computing and writing components, because there isn't much point to statistical practice unless you can calculate what you need to on the computer and then communicate what you have learned. He particularly likes working in an academic environment because he gets to work with students on various research projects, paper writing, and as advisor.
