Description: Training
The Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine offers training opportunities for the UCLA animal research community to ensure animal well-being and regulatory compliance. These training opportunities offered by the Division are free of charge, and designed to facilitate the Animal Research Committee's responsibility of assuring the various regulatory bodies that members of UCLA's animal research community have been adequately trained to carry out the various procedures outlined in approved animal research protocols.

DLAM Mission: To support UCLA’s premier research program while encouraging and maintaining the highest standards of human and animal welfare, regulatory compliance and customer service.



DLAM provides research support services, training, and consultation in the following areas:
  • Animal procurement
  • Animal import/export management and arrangements
  • Animal husbandry and sanitation including
    • Conventional facility management and maintenance
    • SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) rodent barrier maintenance
    • Special/custom husbandry procedures
    • Environmental enrichment
