Gene & Cellular Therapy Core

The Virology/BSL 3 Tissue Culture Core Laboratory provides testing services, blood and blood cell products and other specialized services to research labs working with HIV and other related viruses. A dedicated and fully stocked BSL 3 lab is also maintained and made available to researchers conducting independent experiments. We are able to assist individual researchers with special projects related to HIV detection.

Services provided (available on a recharge basis):
  • P24 ELISA testing
  • Leukopack procurement (in conjunction with the UCLA Blood and Platelet Center) and peripheral blood mononuclear cell preparation
  • Phlebotomy service for recruited normal donors
  • Specialized media preparation
  • HIV viral load testing
  • Use of real-time PCR machines (BioRad IQ5)
